Work Trade

Welcome and thank you for your interest in our work-trade program! Working at an event like this is a great way to meet new people. If you enjoy talking with people or if you’re a little shy and need that specific reason to talk to someone, then working the event is a great way to interact while helping the Northwest Tarot Symposium have another successful year. And, whatever your skills are, we will put them to good use!

We have a couple of different options and several shifts to choose from. Please read through this information then submit the application form. We have a limited number of work-trade spots available, so the earlier you sign up the better.

Note: We rely on the help of work-trade attendees to run this event smoothly, please only sign up if you are committed. Anyone who cancels or does not show up for their shift will not be allowed to sign up in future years.

Options:

Option 1. Classroom monitoring – Each of the three classrooms needs a monitor. The monitor’s tasks are to check badges at the door, assist the presenter, and monitor the room during the presentation. Once the schedule is available in September/October, you’ll be able to choose monitoring hours. Note: In addition to monitoring, you’ll need to sign up for at least one additional shift of option 2.

Option 2. Event setup, teardown, and NWTS Booth staffing – Before and after the main event, we need help setting up and breaking down. During the event, you can take work-trade shifts at the NWTS booth to sell raffle tickets, NWTS merchandise, and give out information.

Compensation:

For each hour you’re scheduled to work, $15 will be deducted from the $260 registration fee. Once you’ve selected your work-trade hours, we’ll send you an invoice for the balance. Note: Work-trade cannot be applied to the Friday Keynote Extension, the Monday Pro Dev Extension, or meal tickets.

Available Shifts and Hours for Option 1

Presentation schedule TBA.

Available Shifts and Hours for Option 2

If your application is accepted we’ll be in touch to schedule your shifts. Shifts are not scheduled until the event schedule has been published so that you have the opportunity to volunteer around the presentations you’d like to attend.
